Gratitude for the Juneteenth Agricultural Pavilion

On November 18, members of the Buffalo Food Equity Network (BFEN) attended a thank you dinner for everyone who contributed to the Juneteenth Agricultural Pavilion (hereafter referred to as “the Pavilion”). Food for the Spirit (F4tS) lovingly hosted this thank you dinner as part of our commitment to the Pavilion this year.

The annual Juneteenth Agricultural Pavilion event was organized again in 2023 as part of the Juneteenth Celebration in Buffalo. The vision for the Pavilion came from the brilliant mind of BFEN member Jaime Swygert in 2019. Since then, Jaime has served as Chair of the Pavilion Planning Committee, working closely with the board of the Juneteenth Celebration in Buffalo, and with support from many BFEN members and partners.

This thank you dinner was made possible through the collaborative efforts of F4tS’s team member Jared Strohl, and BFEN members Jaime Swygert (the visionary herself), Bianca Davis, Alexa Joan Wajed, and BFEN Director Nnenna Ferguson.

At the dinner, Jaime presented certificates of appreciation to everyone who participated in making the 2023 Pavilion what it was, and guests received thank you bags made by Jaime’s mother, ate delicious foods prepared by Bianca Davis from recipes from the African diaspora, and communed with one another in Alexa and Edreys Wajed’s beautiful new Eat Off Art venue in the Tri-Main Building.
